SMPCH is a project of the Dominican Family of San Juan but had depended solely on Divine Providence for its existence. It is a non-stock, non-profit 121-bed capacity Third Referral Level (Tertiary) General Hospital accredited by the Department of Health. The Dominican Fathers take care of the spiritual needs of the patients and staff. The Sisters of Religious Missionaries of St. Dominic takes care of Administration and the cleanliness of the Hospital. The Dominican Laity – both of Holy Rosary and St. Martin Chapters render voluntary services, spiritual life to outpatients and help for the funding of the hospital. There are four (4) Major Departments: Surgery, Obstetrics-Gynecology, Pediatrics and Internal Medicine. We also have Departments of Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Anesthesiology, Pathology, Radiology and Dental Medicine. Of the 121 beds – 70% are allotted for charity patients and 30% for private patients. The Charity In-patients are not charged for professional services as well as the hospitalization. However , they are required to pay for the medicines and ancillary services which are at charity rates. The Charity Patients in Out-Patient Department the consultation is free. Charges for medicines and ancillary services are on charity rates. The Walk-In private patients are those who come for consultation and are admitted (as the case maybe) who cannot be considered charity and who has no particular doctor. They are seen by the doctor on duty for the day and if admitted becomes the private patient of the said doctor. The Private patients are actually semi-pay because the rates here are lower than other hospitals. Doctor’s fees are standardized and the use of the sophisticated machines is minimal.

Message from the President
Our bank is known as a bank with a heart. We wanted to live up to that name. Everyone says that charity begins at home, and that is true. We thought why not start within our own community (where Sterling Bank of Asia is), that is why we chose St. Martin de Porres Charity Hospital. We wanted everyone to get involved and they did. We can all do charity in our own little way. Once people realize this it just grows naturally. It’s from the heart. If you give and it’s not from the heart it does not mean a thing. The way people reacted to this initiative is a good push. And we will continue to have a drive for charity, that’s for sure.
